Yes!

It's got to be one of the most powerful words in the English language. It's a word that warms a parent's heart when a child is asked, "Will you clean your room?" It's a word that makes ecstatic the man who proposes to his sweetheart. Salesmen love to hear the word. If they can get a customer to say it three times, a sale is almost guaranteed. But Yes doesn't come easy--or naturally. As little children, we grow up preferring No, accompanied by a wrinkled brow.

When Jesus came to earth, he said Yes to everything God asked of Him. He came not to do His own will, but the will of His loving Heavenly Father. Sure, Jesus had some other preferences. He really didn't relish the idea of being flogged and crucified. But nevertheless, He deferred to God's plan. Like Jesus, we need to learn to say Yes more often to God. He has a plan for our lives and a desire to make them count for time and eternity.

During the month of January, a time when goals are set, we want to talk about some of the major areas in life in which God wants us to say Yes to Him. I hope you'll join us in our weekend services beginning January 5-6, 2008. If you can't be on campus with us, follow us online.
